I finally have all the stuff to shoot, develop, scan, and print my own photos.  But I haven't done it yet.  I've shot plenty of photos, but I'm honestly a little nervous when it comes to the developing.  It's one part of photography that I've never done before.  I have some in paper knowledge, but no practical experience with it.
I imagine it's like the first time you drive a car with a manual transmission, nothing about it is hard, but almost everyone stalls the first couple times.  I expect my first couple times will be probably be a bit shaky at least.  I'll probably run through the procedure with just water a time or two just to get the motions down, then dive into the chemestry and try a roll.
it's funny to me that after all these years of photography, I've never done this, even though I started with film way back when.  But I've decided tomorrow is the day.  I'm going to get past this bout of nerves and take the next step.  Being able to do it all in house will be a huge boon and push me forward.
I'm not nervous anymore, I'm eager.  I can do this.  Tomorrow is the day.

I have an idea based loosely on the Photo a day thing that I tried to do in 2023. I really liked the idea of that project, but I wasn't abel to keep up with the pace of shooting a photo every day and keeping it interesting. I also wanted to incorporate my writing a little bit with it and make it something a little more involved.
So I think for 2024 I'm going to do something a little bit different. Instead of just putting out a photo a day, I'm going to put one out somewhere between once a week, or once a month. I haven't quite decided on the frequency yet. I also intend to do some writing along with it. Either a short story, or a write up on the subject of the photos. How involved it gets will depend on how much I can keep up with it.
I want to go all in on this one, so I'll be putting a good bit of time and planning into it. Though this being something I haven't done before, at least not in a serial fashion there will probably be some adjustment period in the beginning as I find my footing and see what schedule works best. As well as just what I can handle. My main goals are to create something interesting, without the project becoming overwhelming or setting goals too high so that I can't achieve them. I also want to make sure that it stays interesting. While I do expect it to start off a little rough, I do eventually want this to be something that's fun not just for me, but for people that might want to read my stuff and see my photos.
I'll be the first to admit, I'm rusty as hell. I've tinkered a little here and there but I haven't put any serious work in this direction in a long time. So I'm excited, but also kind of nervous about this. I realize that I'm under no obligation to do anything outside those I impose on myself, but I also don't want to disappoint. Myself, or anyone that decides to take an interest in my little project.
So that's the plan. I'll probably tinker a bit when I have the free time in December, but the main start will be in January. i intend this to be a project that will go all year. And after doing a few I'll make a decision on a schedule, and barring major events that would stop me, try to stick to that schedule.
Should be fun, here we go! :)
